Human Resource Management

The Human Resource Management (HRM) area of study / course has three terminal levels, i.e.

  • The National Certificate in HRM
  • The National Diploma in HRM
  • The Higher National Diploma in HRM

NB: This course can be taken on full time or part time bases. However, part time takes longer than full time.

for National Certificate Graduates:
  • Human Resource Assistant
  • Data Capture Assistant

for National Diploma Graduates:

 The graduate can work in a pay office of an organisation; with trade unions, with/for employment agencies government departments of labor, any education, parastatals e.g. NSSA etc.
NB: the graduate is able to function effectively as a Human Resources Officer, PR Officer.

for Higher National Diploma Graduates:

 The graduate can work effectively as a human resources officer, a training officer, a PR Officer and a counselor or can open own HR consultancy.

Entry Requirements for National Certificate

5 ‘O’ level passes which should include English and Mathematics


DURATION: 1 YEAR
Description: The National Certificate in HRM is a one-year full time course which is designed to develop in the candidate the basic skills or competencies in human resources management. The graduate in this course is expected to have acquired basic business communication skills, able to draft job advertisements, operational skills in creating and maintaining employee personal records/database, attendance records, records management (filing) and processing of wages and salaries using a payment package/program in use.

National Certificate in Human Resource Management


DURATION: 3 YEARS
Description: The National Diploma in Human Resource Management is a three year full time course which is designed to enskill the cadre with the following skills/competencies:
  • Ability to flight job advertisements
  • Carry out selection process  such as short listing, conducting interviews etc
  • Be able to preside over disciplinary hearings, implement labor laws and codes of conduct
  • Implement safety policies and programs
  • Assist in doing performance appraisals

Description: The Higher National Diploma in Human Resource Management is a one year full time course of study which is designed to enskill the graduate with the following skills/competencies:
