Ms. P. Watema, Principal Mutare Polytechnic
Ms Poniso Watema is the Principal of Mutare Polytechnic She became an educationists in 1984.She taught Food and Nutrition, Home Economics and Geography at various secondary schools that include Nemakonde High, Victoria High, Ndarama High. In 1993 she joined Masvingo Polytechnic as a lecturer and she rose through the ranks to become Vice Principal in 2012-2014.In 2014 she was promoted to Principal, Mutare Polytechnic to date.
A holder of the following qualifications
MSc in Tourism and Hospitality Management (UZ). This has seen her establishing the
Tourism and Hopitality department at Muasvingo Polytechnic in 2005.
B Ed in Home Economics UZ
Secondary Teachers Certificate in Home Economics Gweru Teachers College
Certificate in Systemic Counselling
Certificate in CBET
Current Secretary General of the Principals of Polytechnics and Industrial Training Colleges (PPITC)
Research Interests
She has interests in Design, Sustainability and Entrepreneurship and has passion for seeing innovative and creative artisans, technician’s technologists who stand a chance to contribute to industrialisation and modernisation of Zimbabwe
She also advocates for gender equality in training, encourages female students to take up courses in those areas that are said to male dominated fields.
A leader par excellence who has demonstrated apt leadership skills that has seen her transforming the institution to a Pacesetter brand, recognized nationally. She has won several accolades for both the institution and her self.
